Student Visa (Subclass 500)

Student visa allows you to enter and study in Australia for up to 5 years, depending on length of your course. You can use this visa to study your choice of course to advance your career or to study English, which may also improves your chances of applying for other visas.

Your choice of study can be at any level from secondary to tertiary education level depending on your age and previous education history. If eligible, we are able to provide you with admissions into most education institutions across Australia.

Enrolment and change of courses

With having access to large network of universities and colleges all over Australia, we can also facilitate your enrolment in almost any course in any location in Australia. All courses of study must be undertaken with an approved Australian Education Provider only. Further, all education providers are given a Risk Rating of 1 – 3 which determines strictness of requirements for your application. Thus, based on this criteria, student visa assessment will be either Streamlined or Regular.

What are the requirements to qualify for a student visa?

There are several criteria you must meet before you qualify for a student visa. In support of your student visa application, you will need to:

  • Enroll with an approved Australian Education Provider as a full-time student
  • Provide confirmation of enrolment (CoE) for all intended courses from your education provider
  • Show that you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition fees, travel expenses and living costs
  • Prove that you are a ‘Genuine Temporary Entrant’, which means you need to provide a statement stating that you intend to stay in Australia temporarily and documentation to support your claim
  • Have adequate health insurance covering entire duration of your stay in Australia
  • Meet English language requirements unless exempt
  • Meet Australian health and character requirements. 

Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)

Temporary Graduate visa is for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian education institution. The visa allows eligible students to live and work in Australia temporarily after completion of studies for up to 4 years.

Students are able to access the Subclass 485 visa only once as a primary applicant. Subclass 485 visa does not require the support of an employer sponsor, an Australian relative sponsor or a nominating State/Territory. This visa has 2 streams and each stream has different eligibility requirements.

  • Graduate Work stream (up to 18 months)
  • Post-study Work stream (up to 4 years)

Eligibility for Graduate Work stream

  • Be under 50 years of age
  • Meet Australian study requirements
  • Meet English Requirements
  • Nominate one occupation on the Medium and Long-term Occupation list that is closely related to that occupation
  • Have positive skills assessment
  • Meet health and character requirement

Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

Eligibility for Graduate Work stream

  • Be under 50 years of age
  • Meet Australian study requirements
  • Meet English Requirements
  • Nominate one occupation on the Medium and Long-term Occupation list that is closely related to that occupation
  • Have positive skills assessment
  • Meet health and character requirement

Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

Eligibility for Post-Study Work stream

  • Meet Australian study requirement
  • Hold an eligible qualification at a degree-level or above
  • Meet health and character requirement
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

Unlike applicants in the Graduate Work stream, applicants in the Post-Study Work stream are not required to nominate an occupation

Skilled Recognised Graduate Visa (Subclass 476)

Skilled Recognised Graduate Visa is a temporary visa that allows recent overseas engineering graduates to live, work or study in Australia for up to 18 months.

To apply for this visa, you must have completed an engineering course for which you were awarded a degree or higher qualification in the last 2 years from a specified institution. This could be a:

  • bachelors degree
  • masters degree
  • doctoral degree
  • postgraduate diploma

This qualification must be in an engineering discipline, such as:

  • Civil engineering
  • Structural engineering
  • Chemical engineering
  • Environmental engineering
  • Electrical and electronics engineering
  • Mechanical, production and plant engineering
  • Mining and material engineering

Specified Institution

  • You must have completed your engineering qualification at a specified educational institution. Any institution offering an engineering qualification accredited under the Washington Accord is a specified institution.

    If you studied at an institution or college that is only affiliated with Washington Accord that will not satisfy the requirement for this visa application.

Eligibility for Skilled Recognised Graduate Visa

    • Have an engineering qualification from a specified educational institution
    • Be under 31 years of age
    • Not have previously held a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) or a Skilled Recognised Graduate visa (Subclass 476)
    • Meet English Requirements
    • Meet health and character requirements
    • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused
